Primary School Field Trips

One-day field trips for primary students
5eyes is a wonderful place for young learners to visit. Situated in a tranquil agricultural village on the outskirts of Jakarta, our Nature-Lab offers memorable and joyful learning adventures. Students take part in hands-on workshops and guided tours that explore where our food comes from, how it grows, and how we can work with nature’s abundance.
With a strong focus on sustainability, students discover practical recycling systems, natural building methods, and integrated farming solutions used across the whole of 5eyes. These experiences directly support SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 15: Life on Land, helping children understand how caring for the earth connects to healthy food, communities, and futures.
Eco-building & Making
Staying connected to hands-on skills and experiencing how to make something sustainably is a powerful opportunity for young people visiting 5eyes. Through practical activities and real-world learning, students gain confidence, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of how thoughtful, sustainable choices can shape the way we live, grow, and care for our environment.
Traditional medicine making
Preparing candlenut seeds—by decasing them with a sling, cooking them, and then extracting the oil using natural methods—offers a meaningful way to learn about nature’s pharmacy. This hands-on process helps students understand the healing properties of plants, traditional knowledge systems, and how natural remedies are carefully and sustainably produced.
Making food for the animals
Making natural food for our animals involves mixing carefully prepared ferments and cooked foods with live larvae, creating a balanced and nutrient-rich diet. This hands-on workshop is both unique and highly engaging, giving participants insight into natural feeding systems and animal care. The result is the healthiest possible food for the diverse range of animals we look after, supporting their wellbeing and reflecting our commitment to sustainable, ethical farming practices.
Harvest and prepare
Harvesting root crops is a hands-on, team-based activity that involves digging and working together to extract ubi or cassava from the soil. Once harvested, the roots are cleaned and prepared for processing, including peeling, shredding, and drying in readiness for cooking. This experience helps participants understand the journey from soil to food while building cooperation, practical skills, and respect for the labour behind everyday staples.
